its rainy outside, and i'm working...today could be better.

Fantasy Update:

just configured my fantasy baseball league keepers and draft order. I have the 10th and 11th pick (last pick of "first" round and first pick of "second" round) with Doc Halladay, King Felix, and David Price "is right" all part of my keeper core, SP will not be near the top of my list of who to draft.
I have reasonable power in Zimmerman and Votto, and a mainstay in the AVG/OPS categories thanks to Mauer. So I think i either need to push all my chips in and go for more power, or diversify and try and get some speed. Speed can come usually pretty cheap, guys like Michael Bourne helped me win the title last year, and came either off the waiver wire, or in the tail end of the draft. People love dudes who hit homers, so the cost of those guys is usually higher than it should. So with my first picks im going to try and fill in some holes where the value really drops. SS being one of those. Rollins, Alexi Ramirez, Andrus, Jeter, are all out there so depending on who drops to me with the 10th pick i might pull the trigger early, just so i dont get stuck with some shit bum at that spot. I'm not sure what it is but i cant stand having crap on stick at SS. Maybe it was all those years with Reyes.

I got some random shit playing on my headphones right now, the more i venture to Amazon's MP3 the more i like, i download these free samplers, and even if i get 3 songs like out of it, its totally worth it, cause well its free.
I stumbled across The Heavy, via **GEEK ALERT** a trailer for the new Batman video game, it had a great song, which i searched out and found it was by The Heavy. You may also recognize their song on a KIA commercial and the movie "The Fighter". So i guess they are a bit mainstream, but i'll be perfectly honest with you all. I'm 29 I'm not trying to prove how hip or "in" i am in. so yea whatever. Have a listen, i like that they are unique with some soul.

played some Dead Nation last night on the ps3 and i had a blast best 8 bucks i have spent on a game in a long while, its fun/hard/not too hard/fun, i haven't even tried the online play but this is a type of game that would only be more fun with the more people involved. I would have no issues, buying this game for a friend or two if that meant they would jump online and play it with me.

Also been putting in waaaay too much time in the Dragon Age universe. 60 plus hours in Origins and at least 12 so far in DA2. its just engrossing and fits my mix between ADD and ability to sit and play something for 5 straight hours.

Big game for Tottenham this weekend, yes its only West Ham they are playing but 3 points or bust, really i mean there are what 10 games left, we need 3 points against the shitty teams like the Spammers. Let's hope the Strikers keep up their scoring.

The wild ride in Loch Ryan, part II - The 5 year plan

As new manager of Stranaer FC (which is the team I decided upon in my last piece) I plan on taking them from 3rd division Scottish football to the heights of Euro. To do that though i need a plan. So I have devised a 5 year plan for the club.

Year 1 - Survive
My first plan of action is to stabilize the club, inject money into it, so when the time comes, year 3-4 I have the money at my disposal to bring in the start talent I need to bring European silverware to south of Scotland. I also need to make sure I don't get fired. Survive is my key word for my first season. To survive both as a club and as a manager, I believe I need to do two things to survive the zombie apocalypse that is 3rd division Scottish football FM08 style, first i need to to make sure that Stranaer finish in the top four, and gain promotion to the 2nd division. Secondly i need to trim or maintain the current budget, and i need to milk every ever living cent out of the, hopefully, rich people of the south of Scotland and the Loch of Ryan. The chore of bringing in the cash money will consist of having as many friendlies as possible (we already had one against Aberdeen, more on that in my next piece), also i want to evaluate my players and my future stars to strict new contracts (if they are not already on it), i also want to make sure that we sell out every game, i haven't figured the best method of that yet, and i don't think there is a "have a t-shirt cannon" option. The money i do want to use will be on a scout, the board will only let me scout players in Scotland, so there is no need to hire more than one scout. (I have already hired a scout, more on him in my next piece). My financial plan is a work in progress, but the main goal really is any move i make has to be firstly fiscally sound.

What i need on top of making money will be to finish in the top four, I have no idea the talent level of my competition, but i know it doesn't matter, i need a top four finish, I don't see the Board letting a 28 year old first time manger stick around if the club is loitering around the bottom of the 3rd division table. I believe in this team, I will get into the individuals in my next post, but currently I believe i have the talent to finish in top four this year, the first problem i need to solve is, getting the moral of this team to at least away from suicidal. I mean seriously these guys moral is so low, i'm worried about them being alone...I need to change the mindset of the club, instill confidence in them.

So after reading the first handful of posts from Run of Plays account of his Football Manager 09 season with Pro Vercelli, I was inspired to do the same thing. I am obsessed with the iPhone version of FM, but it only offers a lite version of the full PC game. So in the spirit of my inspiration I blew off the dust of my FM 08, and installed that bad boy through Steam. Now you may be reading this and saying, FM 08? for realz yo? Well first off, for realz yo, its not a typo. Secondly its around the Holidays, and my bank account cant handle a FM11 purchase at the moment, it will happen, but for now...its FM08 so deal with it.

Now unlike Mr. ROP, I dont feel that I am the "greatest in the world" at FM, hell I'm not even British, so I'm already starting behind the eight ball. Give me a baseball sim, and I would, pun intended, knock it out of the park. Anyways, I feel that if i put the time analyze my team and make some smart buys, I can accomplish my goals. (more on my goals in a bit)

Before I get into my goals for my FM08 career, I need to decide on a team. Again inspired by ROP, i decide to pick a low level club, not my usual pick of Tottenham or Barcelona. I am also playing for the first time using not real players. So i can't base my mid field around little Luca Modric, or clean out my roster and sell David Bentley for 15 million pounds. Also, and this is by accident I selected USD rather than pounds or euro, at the end of the day it doesn't matter, 25 million fake computer dollars, is basically the same as 25 million fake pounds...and since i am using fake players, I wont be jaded by high or low prices for players I know of. I also loaded up a "large" database of players, go big or go home, I've always said...or "thats what she said", I cant remember. Moving on, with my team pick, I decided on, taking words from Lebron James "take my talents to Stranraer". Stranraer is a Harbor Town in southern Scotland. Located on Loch Ryan, Stranaer FC is the 3rd oldest Football club in Scotland, founded in 1870. Their blue and white kits, lend to their very creative nickname "The Blues". According to their Wikipedia entry they have had some highs and lows like most clubs, were shunned by the bigger Scottish clubs, due to their location, but gained respect with wins and or close games against respectable clubs like Rangers. Stranraer FC is currently in the 3 division of the Scottish league, the lowest that FM08 offers.

First the redsox, then tottenham, then the redwings, and finally the celtics.

What an unbelievable year in my life for sports. I doubt any year for the rest of my life will I get to enjoy four trophies in one sports year.

Where to begin? I guess at the begining with the 07 sox. Ill always remember this team as MY team a team I watched get built, this wasn't about breaking some 86 year old curse or winning for all the generations of sox fans that never got to see them win. This was about finally overcoming the yankees. This was about proving it wasn't a fluke, and that even though we had enough money to buy anyone we wanted this was about building a team that reflected for me personally how a team should be built. This was my team a team with solid offense, sold pitching, defense, speed and charecter. This team played with heart and soul. Part of me felt more joy with this win than it does with the win in 04. To me I felt like 04 was me more feeling a special privelage to witness history then it was a special bond with the team. 07 I felt more joy for me not the old timers like in 04. The young guys like lester (who beat cancer and started the series clincher in colorado) youk, papelbon (can anyone ever forget his irish jig with budlight box on his head?) Pedroia (AL rookie of the year) okijima (the okey dokey) and the emergance of jacoby ellsbury. Those are the guys that make the 07 redsox feel like my team. I remember going to boston.com and reading about some kids we drafted (papelbon, ellsbury) and it was just an amazing season and playoff run. I will never forget sitting in a bar at 1 am in london amazed at how many sox fans showed up in a country that 95 percent of all the people don't even know what a homerun is to watch the game, I'm even more surprised that we were able to find a bar that was even showing the game. Whenever anyone talks about jd drews 14 million dollar homerun, I will never forget sitting that bar watching that ball sail into the stands while I drank ptichers of carlsberg and tried to listen to the game over the pop music blaring from the dance floor below. That's my sox team...

Tottenham winning the carling cup. Really its not the premierleague title but a trophy is a trophy its one more then arsenal won and one more then chelsea won. Hell its one more then both of them won combined. And the sweetest thing about it all was that we beat both of them to win the cup. People will always agrue which game was better, the 5-1 throttling of arsenal in the finals at the lane or the dramtic 2-1 win over chelsea in wembley. To me both were just as fun. This win many believe could signal a new day for spurs with the arrival of juande ramos, who brought in playes like jonathan woodgate. The day of the final against chelsea I was traveling back from hawaii. With the UK 10 hours ahead of hawaii time I was restricted infrequent checks of scored on my mobile. I didn't have a great feeling about the game. The team had played soo poorly for almost the entire season that I was just happy to make it to the finals. Right before we took off from our lay over in detroit I checked the score. 1-0 chelsea middle of the first half. I basically wrote off the game, figuring there was no way they would come back let alone win. So when we landed in boston I didn't care about the result, I didn't want to see what I figured to be a 3-1 loss to chelski. But after sitting on the runway for 30 minutes I decided to check, at the worst it would kill a couple of minutes. So I load the page on my mobile and what do see? 2-1 final tottenham win!! Un-fucking believable! M not sure if I've ever celibrated in silence like that before. But it was out of the 4 trophies won over the last year the most surprising. As soon as I got home that night I downloaded both the arsenal win and the chelsea win. The next day I made haste home from work and watched both games back to back, cheering and chanting alone, like I do for most english football games. It was awesome, pure awesome. Because of that win we qualify for the uefa cup (somthing that wouldn't have happened without that win) this iwas not a great season for spurs, hell it wasn't even a good season for spurs, but with that win, everything else just didn't matter anymore. We tanked the rest of the season but with juande at the helm, I think next season should a season for the ages.

The wings cup run was one of excitment frustration and reminisance. I was barley able to watch a single wings game all season (thanks versus!) So really I knew the players but didn't know just how good this team was until I watched the playoffs. If you know anything about hockey you know that the playoffs are were its at. And the wings always had a way of dominating in the regular season but getting bounced the playoffs by a more physical team with a hot goaltender (see ducks) when coach babcock pulled hasek (who has since retired) in favor or chris osgood, that changed everything, we played with swagger, style, grit, and intelligents. Once the finals came around there was no doubt they would win. They lost that heart breaking game 5 in detroit blowing the lead with 34 seconds to go, but the skill just out matched pittsburghs skill and we took it in 6. To see those guys hoist the cup is the coolest thing it sports to see. Lidstrom cemented his place as one of the best defensmen of all time and the first european captain to win a stanley cup. Just an awesome team, a team that if I was trying to show someone how to play hockey, I would show them the 07-08 redwings. Their passing and puck possesion was a thing of beauty. I spent some late night yelling and dancing in front of my tv. It brought me back to the teams of 97 and 98. Just an absolute blast to be able to love hockey all over again.

so we got like twelve hours until i get my copy of GTA4 ive been waiting for this since i beat San Andreas a good couple years ago. i actually bought my ps3 for GTA4 although i have enjoyed many games for already. im looking at you warhawk. i will look forward to indulge the next couple of months of my life in this game, i cant lie im a geek when it comes to gta. gta3 was the first game on my ps2 and i have put years into this series. from the reviews ive read this game is going to be a massive hit both commercially, culturally, and economically.

ive been playing a role based game on the pc to past the time until gta. the game is called lost power city. its addictive very addictive.

ok ill be back in a little while, as soon i can pull myself from gta. so ill see you in three weeks!

Saturday moring session

im here at work, yes thats a right. working on a saturday....wtf right?

anyways a quick recap from friday nights games and the weekend look ahead.

The Redsox put a good licking on the rangers last night, in part to papi finally (hopefully) coming alive and hitting a gradn slam, you go papi. Dice-k is pitching really well so far this season and looks to be a pretty good 2nd man in the rotation. jed lowrie made his second career start for the sox, and looked really good. let the count down to the end of lugo SS begin.

The Redwing thankfully won last night, thanks to an OT goal by johan franzen, and osgood provied coach babcock right with his hook of hasek and putting in osgood, he stopped 20 of 21 shots. i can not complain about that. i think it was a very good move, one that shouldnt have even been a tough decision, i mean hasek didnt play 4 games in 7 days all season, and all of a sudden you expect him to do that in the playoffs? what? anyways i say stick with osgood till he sucks it up and then you bring in hasek. not any sooner. we need to go to nashville and get that win and be done with this series.

The celtics play on sunday, they finished with the best record in the NBA and their best record since 1986 (the last time they won it all). i dont know its wierd i'v watched them play alot this season, and they pretty much just killed everyone. so if they can keep up their tough D and team chemistry i think they can go a very long way.

i downloaded grand turismo 5 prolouge this morning, the graphics are insane even on my not so current HD flat panel samsung. you start off with 35K worth in cash, so of course i headed to the dealership and quickly browsed the subuaru lot (two cars available at the moment) but unfortunatly the wrx was 37K, so i went with the honda integra for 27.5K, took it out for a spin on the basic beginner course, won that and made somthing like 3K. it looks like a great game even though i only played for like 10 minutes. honestly i really enjoy the customization of the cars and buying the cars more then i like the racing. i mean some of the races are fun, but i always seem to hit the wall sort of speak when it comes to GT. at some point i just cant beat some courses and get stuck, maybe ill be able to "break through" and really dive deep into this one. although with GTA4 coming out in 10 days i doubt GT will get much love after that purchase.

so ramos hinted at king leaving and from some of the rumblings ive heard is that he is going to clean house with the exception of keane berbs and southgate. obviously everyone else all wont go. but who do i want to stay who would i keep? im going to try right now to draw the line in the sand sort of speak, who are the weakest links?

pascal chambanda - the guy just pissis me off, it always seems like when we start building momentum he always tries to jump in the play and seems to constantly turn over the ball. his attitude doesnt help either.

paul robinson - im sorry he does i would rather take my chances with someone else at the point, i think it would be a good move for both club and player.

boateng - he just in my eyes doesnt do anything good, well let me correct myself he does pick up fouls and yellows quiet nicely, as well as fulfill spurs tatoo quota.

taarabt - i really think he should be sent out on loan, he looks to have some skill but i think needs to play more then just quarter halfs of garbage time.

stallteri, rocha, gardener - they dont play so why not get some money for them, none of them should be at spurs. good bye!

keane, berbs, huddlestone, bent, hutton, woodgate, malbranque, o' hara lennon if he isnt allowed to take corners ever again. bale i cant wait to see him again next year. zakora and dawson as long as he plays along side woodgate or king. king should stay if only to get him in games to sell him for higher. if the guy could stay health and play he would be a great asset to our team at present, whatever we pay him is a waste of money.

a back 4 rotation of king woodgate dawson bale and hutton along with either zakora or kaboul. all healthy thats a pretty strong defense.

ramos says he wants berbs to stay and berbs agent says he needs to go. i dearly want him to stay at whatever cost. i cant stand the thought of him at man u.

Well after more then a year off, im back and bloggin like never before, i have a lot to write here in this space, alot more things to write then i have time for. so anyways ill start by letting you a know few updated i have here, like my twitter to the right -------->

also i just had my fantasy baseball draft and the actual season starts next week. ill be doing one weekly post concerning my fantasy team and one post a week about the "real" redsox season.

Also ill be updating the site the day after each tottenham game. The next game is against chelsea, tomorrow at 20:00 UK Time.

Also i will be picking up from where i left off on the video daily and posting weekend vid clips of my favorite youtube clips.

Then every once and a while i have apost up about my PS#/360 g/PC game of the momment.

Also because the Celtics are good this year, ill follow them with posts after most of their playoff games.
One last thing will be a round of how my physical therapy is going.

Thursday Round-up 1/11

welcome to the second thursday round up. This is somthing im going to keep as a regular installment as much as possible. Today will be much shorter though as i am posting from my mobile phone (lg vx9900). Its not that i dont have access to a computer, but i havnt tried out blogspots ability to post from my mobile.

anyways... Not much on the sports front this week, at least nothing that i care too much about. Caught a wings game on vs. (first time all year) they look pretty good. They beat the aves in a shootout, thanks to very pretty goals by datsyuk and zetterberg.

they plau again on vs. Tuesday night against the habs in what should be a great game, cant wait to see it. Hockey is starting to come back for me, just in time for the all star break.

Well the Votes are in, and Cal Ripken Jr. and Tony Gywnn both got in to the Baseball Hall of Fame. It was a shame to see Jim Rice didnt make...he only recieved 63% of 75% needed to actually gain entrance so, maybe next Jim. I'd vote for you.

Cal and Tony, both very deserving players and now forever remembered HOF stars. Congrats to both of you, you played the game they way it should be played and you where most importantly outstanding humans, somthing that cant be said for every athlete.

Weekend on the Couch with my 360

Spent almost all weekend on my couch playing xbox 360.
I woke up saturday morning, and struggled for a good couple of hours trying to install some type of program that will share my music between my gateway laptop and my 360. it is supposed to be as easy as downloading Windows Media Player 11. well for whatever reason, it is not. My laptop runs WMP10 with ease, yet when i try and download WMP11 it wont do it. i cant understand why, but hell its a P, half the time i dont understand it.

So being unable to go the route that microsoft tells me i decide to go to my old friend google and find a third party program. and after some haggaling and a many of message board reading, i was able to install a program called TVersity. which enables you to share any folder on your computer with any other device connected to your network (my router) and BAM streaming music, through my 360. in the words of Borat "Nice!"

I accomplished this and then proceeded to play games for hours while enjoying everything from Beck, Jay-Z, and the new Shins album (thanks to Oink).

I played some good NFSMW (need for speed most wanted). the game can get repetitive, but when you are getting chased my police it is really fun.

Then i moved over to GOW (gears of war) and after many times of just straight out frustration, cursing, and daming of the Gods, i was able to beat GOW. yes thats right, on casual, but none the less. it was a much shorter offline game then i expected. and the online is just not for me, most likely because i totally suck at it.

Finished up last night with NHL07, i think im hooked, the first 3 or 4 times i played, i was/wasnt impressed. graphics and all that was impressive, but the acutal gameplay i wasnt sure of. well after last nights, im hooked, the shoot stick (right analog stick) is fun as hell and scoring a goal is very very satisfying. ill be rockin out the hockey tonight no doubt.

didnt watch sports really at all this weekend

(except the tottenham game which eneded in a 0-0 against the cardiff bluebirds, not a strong showing, and that adds one more game onto an already very busy road ahead, although it was nice to see lennon and keane back in action)

In the NFL i got 3 out of 4 games right (pickem) with the pats, eagles, and seahawks winning.
this weekends predictions: SD vs Pats = SD, Bal vs Indy = Bal, Philly vs NO = NO, Seattle vs Chicago = Chicago. the 2 big up in the air games for me are SD vs Pats and Indy Bal.

Well i MegaLoathe (stolen from scrubs yes i know) the Boston Bruins, its just a shame to see histoically rich and once loved franchise, just suck so badly. how badly do they suck you might say?

Well a 10-2 loss to the leafs is a good sign of their skills. granted they are in last place in a strong division.

Im sorry but i just cant stand the way the team is run, the players that are brought in and the overall franchise, maybe its the Habs blood, or the wings managment in me. i just needed to vent.

"Examining the CT images of Mark McGwire's 70th home run ball one can clearly see the synthetic ring around the core -- or 'pill' -- of the baseball," UMS president David Zavagno said. "While Mark McGwire may or may not have used illegal steroids, the evidence shows his ball -- under the governing body of the league -- was juiced."

MLB's response

But Bob DuPuy, baseball's chief operating officer, said the core of the ball has been unchanged for decades. Rawlings has been the exclusive supplier of baseballs to the major leagues since 1977.

"All of our balls are subject to rigorous quality control standards and testing conducted by Rawlings," DuPuy said. "No changes have been made to the core of the ball through the entire time they have manufactured it."

Eventually MLB will have to admit to somthing, right? Don't count on it....

Of Pineiro's 185 career appearances, 148 of them have been starts.

He has spent his entire career, which started in 2000, with the Seattle Mariners. The 28-year-old Pineiro is coming off perhaps his worst season, as he went 8-13 with a 6.36 ERA in 40 appearances.

The pitcher displayed his upside in 2003, going 16-11 with a 3.78 ERA.

Santa was nice to me this year and got me an Xbox360, pretty sweet, although the first one I got died with-in 30 minutes of opening it. brought it back to best buy, and I hope this one lasts a little longer...

I picked up NHL07, Gears of War, and Need for Speed Most Wanted (came with the system) I have COD3 and Dead Rising on the way from EBAY. Ill have some reviews up once i actually get a good chance to play all of them
